Kiro Web: Model Fallback, Workflow Step Models, and Session Reopen Previews

Kiro Web now lets you choose a fallback model and change the model a workflow step runs on. Reopened sessions show their conversation while the sandbox starts.

You can also recover a workflow loop that hit its iteration cap, and sessions you keep using stay available.

[Choose a Fallback Model] Open Settings > Model, choose a model from the list, and pick its fallback. If the selected model is unavailable, the fallback answers only that turn, and Kiro returns to the selected model on the next one. If the selected model refuses a request, the conversation stays on the fallback for the rest of the session. You can remove a fallback at any time. Learn more ->

[Change a Workflow Step's Model] With Workflows turned on, the selected step's composer now has a model picker, including effort and Thinking when the model supports them. Stop the step before changing its model, then send a message to continue. The choice applies only to that step. Learn more ->

[See Your Conversation While a Session Reopens] When you reopen a session whose sandbox has stopped, Kiro Web shows a preview of the saved conversation while the sandbox starts. Once the sandbox is ready, the complete history replaces the preview. Learn more ->

[Recover a Workflow Loop at Its Iteration Cap] When a repeat in a workflow pauses at its iteration cap, you now have two ways to continue. Run N more accepts a whole number from 1 to 1,000 and grants that many extra iterations, and Stop looping and continue ends the repeat and moves on to the next step. Learn more ->

[Improvements] Sessions stay while you use them: Opening a session or sending a message now restarts its 90-day retention period. Learn more ->

[Improvements] Supported images fitted to the selected model: Kiro fits supported images to the selected model at request time and can reduce a large image to that model's limits when needed. After a model change, Kiro refits the image. A model without image support receives a placeholder, and switching back sends the image again

[Improvements] Edit workflow recipes in place: Open an uploaded JSON or YAML recipe under Settings > Workflows to edit it. Save is available once the syntax is valid, and a failed save keeps your draft. Learn more ->

[Improvements] Repositories cloned during a session: A repository the agent clones with `git`, `gh`, or `glab` now appears with the session's repositories

[Improvements] Session setup after restarts: When a session or its sandbox restarts, repeated setup runs merge into one Session setup group instead of appearing again

[Fixes] Fixed Kiro CLI device sign-in offering Continue with when you were signed in with another provider. It now offers Sign out and use the requested provider

[Fixes] Fixed long prompts overflowing onto the model selector row in the composer. The controls row now moves down as the text grows
